Silvernox, a JV between Indian and South Asian tech giants, delivers state-of-the-art Cloud and Co-Location services. With a customer-first approach, we empower businesses to modernize IT, ensure secure cloud management, and optimize performance to meet evolving needs.

FAQ's
No, customization of cloud servers is not possible. Clients are requested to select from the available options in the public cloud.
No, there is no meter on it. However, it can be supplied at an extra fee in very special circumstances where your system calls for a large amount of dedicated bandwidth.
The Silvernox provides an uptime of 99.96%.
The amount of traffic your website can handle depends on several factors, including CPU, RAM, and the applications in use. You can test the servers by sending an email to sales@silvernox.com for a free trial.
Yes, you will be able to access your server as root.
The primary data center is in Pune, with a secondary one in Navi Mumbai.
After payment is completed through the My Account portal, the server can be launched. Typically, it takes 5-10 minutes to receive the server credentials via email.
You can upgrade your cloud server plan within the same series your current plan belongs to. Custom upgrades or downgrades for hard disk space, vCPUs, or RAM are not available. Changes to your plan can be made during a reboot, with a maximum downtime of 20 minutes to ensure proper functionality. To request a plan change, raise a support ticket or email procurement@silvernox.com with the following details: server IP, current plan, desired plan, and preferred downtime window (20 minutes between 10 AM and 10 PM).
Yes, all servers are equipped with mirrored RAID-10 or RAID-1 setups to protect against the failure of one disk at a time.
You can ping our website https://www.silvernox.com to check the latency.
Yes, by default, every cloud server has one static public IP address and one private IP address. The cost of the static public IP is included in the server price.
Yes, clients can detach the public IP address from a running cloud server. However, once detached, the server will no longer be accessible via the public network. In the future, clients can attach an additional reserved IP to the server for internet connectivity, but this will incur separate charges alongside the server price.
Reserved IPs allow clients to save the static public IP of a server before it is deleted. This IP can then be attached to any other running public cloud server as an addon IP. Separate charges apply for reserved IPs.
No, torrenting is not allowed on Silvernox servers.
Yes, Silvernox provides only self-managed servers. These servers do not include maintenance, management, or support from Silvernox. Clients are responsible for managing all aspects of the server, including security, resource monitoring, and data backups. Silvernox is only responsible for the server and network uptime. Self-managed servers are ideal for clients with a tech-savvy team and experience in server management.
No, all our cloud instances are self-managed by default. We offer basic platform support with a "no hands-on" approach, meaning we do not provide active management services.
The data center employs the following security measures to protect data and servers:
CCTV Surveillance: Continuous camera monitoring
Security Guards: 24/7 on-site security presence
Building Access: Photo ID required for entry
Room Access: Access card and biometric authentication for restricted areas
At Silvernox, we offer Continuous Data Protection (CDP) backup plans, which back up your entire server, excluding specific directories, according to a set schedule.
The CDP process takes a snapshot of the entire filesystem and stores it on the backup server in a highly compressed CDP disksafe format. During the first run, the CDP agent performs a complete system sync.
Each new backup is incremental, capturing only the changes made since the last backup, which helps speed up the process and reduce server load.
It's not recommended. The backups on your computer will also be lost if it is corrupted or destroyed for any reason. This creates a false sense of security, and in the event of a disaster, data recovery will take much longer compared to using a separate system dedicated to backups.
No, we do not perform automatic backups unless you purchase a backup plan from us.
You can either request us to configure the backup frequency for you or ask for access to the backup control panel, where you can manage and set the frequency of your backups.
You can email sales@silvernox.com to request our support team to restore a specific file or folder from a particular timestamped backup.
But if you have RAID-10 or RAID-1 on all your servers, which keeps a mirrored copy of your data, why would you still need a backup plan?
While RAID-10 and RAID-1 can protect against the failure of a single disk, they do not safeguard against the following scenarios:
1. Data corruption due to a security breach
2. Accidental deletion or corruption of data by someone with access to your primary data stores and databases (e.g., through phpMyAdmin)
3. A catastrophic hardware failure where two or more disks are damaged simultaneously, making even a RAID-10 setup unrecoverable
In the event of data loss or hardware failure, we will do our best to recover your data from the failed hardware. However, unless you have signed up for a backup plan with us, our responsibility is limited to providing you with an equivalent server configuration as quickly as possible and helping you restore your own backups to the server if you maintain them.
Do’s:
• Ensure the CDP agent is running on each server you want backed up. If a scheduled backup fails, Silvernox's support team will be notified.
• Provide full administrative access to database servers (e.g., MS SQL, MySQL) for the database backup agent, which is part of the CDP agent.
• Notify Silvernox via a support ticket if you change the database administrative access, so the backup process can be updated accordingly.
Don’ts:
• Do not turn off the R1Soft agent (CDP agent) running on the server.
• Repeatedly disabling the CDP agent may result in the de-provisioning of your backup plan.
Following these guidelines ensures seamless operation of your CDP backups.
No, you are not required to purchase backups exclusively from Silvernox. While we offer backup plans listed on our website, you can also opt for third-party dedicated backup services like Tarsnap, Barracuda, Rackspace, or Zmanda Cloud Backup to set up offsite backups for your data.
While backup plans like those mentioned earlier provide data recovery options, they may not always meet your Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) requirements for your Run The Business (RTB) objectives.
Key Considerations:
• MTTR Limitations: Even with advanced backup systems such as CDP, restoring a 20GB MySQL database with InnoDB dependencies could take up to 4 hours, which might exceed your acceptable downtime.
• NoSQL Datastores: Certain NoSQL datastores require periodic data dumps to ensure consistency. Without these dumps, backups risk inconsistencies or corruption.
• Reducing MTTR for MySQL: To achieve a low MTTR for MySQL databases, it's advisable to maintain a passive instance with multiple time-delayed replications from the Master database. This setup enables faster recovery in cases of data corruption or accidental deletion.
When planning your backup strategy, ensure it aligns with your RTB objectives and desired recovery timelines.
No, since a server cannot be allocated to another customer, billing will continue even if the server is unplugged. Only when the server is shut down or removed will billing cease.
No, your IP address will remain the same when upgrading to a higher plan.
Yes, discounts are available for annual payments on certain plans. Please check the MyAccount portal for more details.
The billing period for Microsoft licenses (such as Windows, MS-SQL, etc.) is one calendar month. This implies that the full monthly fee will be charged even if a license is utilized only once during a given month.
Please refer to the following link for more information: Managed Nodes.
Please visit our website for more details on payment options.
Following the first month of use, we bill each server on a daily basis. Although we bill on a monthly prepaid basis, we will give you a prorated refund if you deprovision your server in the middle of the month. However, if the deprovision request is submitted within the first 30 days of service, there will be no reimbursement for the first month's service charge.
